Decay in His Bones

Proverbs 12:4
A wife of noble character is her husbands crown,
but a disgraceful wife is like decay in his bones

I came across this verse in my Bible study this morning. I am reading in the book of Esther and using Elizabeth George's Bible study book about this famous Queen. Today I read Esther 5:9-14. It was about how Haman had just left the queen's banquet with the king and was very joyous. But then he came across Mordecai sitting at the city gate. Mordecai did not rise nor bow to Haman as King Xerxes had instructed everyone to pay honor to Haman. Well, this angered Haman and he went home and called for his wife, Zeresh, and all his friends. When they came to him he boasted about all his riches, his ten sons, being second-in-command, being the only person invited besides the king to the queen's banquet, and being invited again the next night along with the king to Queen Esther's second banquet. But all of this meant nothing to him as long as Mordecai sat at the gate.

So Zeresh and Haman's friends suggested that a gallows be built 75 feet high (about as high as an 8-10 story building) and in the morning go to the king and ask that Mordecai be hung on this gallow. This pleased Haman and he had it carried out immediately.

As part of my study I looked at some other wives who had bad influences over their husbands:

Eve (Genesis 2:16-17; 3:6)

Jezebel (1 Kings 21:1-15)

Sapphira (Acts 5:1-10)

I then looked at some verses in Proverbs about wives:

Proverbs 12:4

Proverbs 14:1

Proverbs 18:22

Proverbs 19:14

Proverbs 31:11-12

That was how I came across the verse at the top. This one stuck out to me more than the rest. Partly because of the title of my blog. So I decided to look up the meanings of noble and disgraceful. Here is what I found:

Noble: 1: possessing outstanding qualities. 2: very good or excellent. 3: grand or impressive especially in appearance. 4: possessing, characterized by, or arising from superiority of mind or character or of ideals or morals.

Disgrace: 1: to humiliate by a superior showing. 2: to bring reproach or shame to.

Grace: 1:
a charming trait or accomplishment. 2: a pleasingly graceful appearance or effect. 3: ease or suppleness of moving or bearing. 4: the quality or state of being considerate or thoughtful.

I have been working for a while on having noble character and being graceful. It has been very hard and I have failed many times. But I am so glad I came across this verse. It has given me an extra boost to continue to work on my character. I want to be a crown to my husband some day, not decay in his bones.

To every man there openeth
A Way, and Ways and a Way.
And the High Soul climbs the High Way
And the Low Soul climbs the Low,
And in between, on the misty flats,
The rest drift to and fro.
But to every man there openeth
A High Way and a Low;
And every man decideth
The way his soul shall go

Car Accident

This past Saturday Daniel got in a car accident. He was coming around a bend in the and another car was coming towards him. Well, the guy crossed the yellow line into Daniel's lane, so Dan swerved into the grass to avoid a head-on collision. Then as he swerved back onto the road he over corrected and rolled the car once into the field. Did I mention he was driving my car? I have little red '97 Honda Civic. Well, he totalled the car. There was no blood or broken bones. However, he did hurt his head and neck and will have to go the chiropracter eventually. But I believe he off the pain meds now.

The guy who crossed the lane did not stay to help Daniel. There was an suv coming behind Daniel and he stopped and got out to help him until police officer arrived.

Hopefully by this Monday I will get my check for my car from my insurance. For my new car I will be sticking with a Honda, probably a civic or accord. I will try to post pictures of the car soon.

Girls and their tutu's

Today I went to one of my special friends house, Elizabeth from my ballet class. She had received a new tutu from her parents. Elizabeth sent me an e-mail telling me about the tutu. They blind folded her and then put the tutu on her then took then walked her to her parents room the full length mirror and took of the blind fold. She was so surprised!

Elizabeth is nine years old and the fifth of eight children. She has four older brothers and three younger sisters. I arrived at their house shortly after half past one. Kristen (6), Anna (4), and Katelyn (2) all came running out of the house when I pulled in the driveway, and Elizabeth was waiting for me at the door. Dawn, their mom, said to me when I got inside that I should all the squealing from the girls when I pulled in the driveway. They had taken the dining room chairs and put them in front of the windows to watch for me. The dining room, entry and front room were all open. They had set up a table in the front room. On the table was a tea set with strawberries and crackers with cheese and for dessert we had wafers rolled up like straws with chocolate fudge inside. I think they were called Pirouettes? It all tasted very good. There were four places for Elizabeth, Kristen, Anna and me. We had lemonade instead of tea because Elizabeth does not like the taste of tea. Elizabeth set all up by herself with a little help from Kristen. We sat down and ate our strawberries and crackers and cheese. All of the tea cups, saucers and plates were Elizabeth's. Mine was pink with blue birds and flowers. Dawn took a picture of us at the table. I wish I had taken pictures too. I even had my camera with me in my purse.

While we were eating our dessert, the three girls took turns playing a song on the piano in the front room. Anna cannot really play so Elizabeth helped her. After that We went upstairs to the three older girls room and Elizabeth and Kristen showed me their gifts for Mother's Day. We then made our way downstairs to the basement. Joshua, the oldest (18), collects animal skins so the girls showed me a mink, skunk, and a raccoon. They were kind of like puppets. You could stick your hand inside of the skin and move the head and arms. It was pretty neat.
After that we went back upstairs to the family room and did some ballet for a little while. We did our warm ups and went through the five positions of ballet. Kristen knew them pretty well but Anna did not, so I helped helped her learn the positions. Elizabeth's tutu is so beautiful. The basque and the tulle are except on the bottom which is pink. I so wish I had taken a picture. She looked like such a beautiful ballerina in her tutu. It makes me want to buy a tutu of my own. Then we can dance together in our tutu's.

Once we finished with ballet we played a couple of games, dancing eggs and mou mou (not sure how you spell that). When we finished the games I had to leave because my dad needed me to help clean our church. As I was saying my goodbye's Anna gave me a kiss on the nose. Elizabeth told me that their dad calls her his "nose kisser." I then gave a hug to Kristen, then Elizabeth, and then Dawn. When I left it was almost four o'clock. I would have stayed longer. But because dad needed to my help to clean the church, I left.

It was so much fun. I cannot wait to go over there again.

Cheerleading

Last Saturday I had my first cheerleading call-out of the season. I coach cheerleading for the Home School Lions Football team. So far I have one girl returning from last year and five new girls. This is my second season to coach. Last year was my first year. I was a cheerleader for six years. The first three years I cheered for my church's basketball team. Then I cheered one year for the Lions basketball team. Through them I learned of the football team. I then cheered two years for football and Daniel also played football. I was the captain my senior year, that was also when my squad found out that our coach and her family would be moving to Texas. So in April last year I was asked to replace her as coach. I said yes and had a great first year. There were nine girls, one of them being the mascot. Two of the girls are seniors this year.

Tomorrow is the second call-out. We shall see if any new girls come and if any return from last year.

ISI Spring Celebration Night

The co-op were I teach ballet has two Celebration Nights, one at the end of the fall semester and one at the end of the spring semester. On Celebration Night perform on stage something they learned in their classes. For instance there is drama for both 5-8 and 8-12. There is also Martial Arts, they showed us different ways they had learned to defend themselves.

The younger class danced first. Their song Beautiful Terrible Cross by Selah.

The older class danced after them. Their song was Glory by Selah.

I danced their routine for them at the back of the sanctuary in case they forgot their steps. They all danced very well. I am so proud of them. As I was walking back to were we all had been sitting the girls all walked up to me with a bouquet of flowers. It was so sweet! They handed me flowers and then gave me hugs before returning to our seats. I took ballet for nine years and at each performance I would receive flowers and a ballerina figurine. Well, this year was my first time to receive both of those for teaching ballet. From Carla, my first class assistant, I received a beautiful bunny ballerina in a purple tutu and purple pointe shoes ( I will have to take a picture of it and post it later). Tamme, my second class assistant and mother of Baylee, gave me the beautiful, sweet smelling flowers. It was so sweet to receive the flowers from my ballet students.

After the performances everybody went downstairs to the gym where tables were set up displaying the different things the children made in their classes. There were also tables set up with snacks and water. Elizabeth, one of my ballerina's, had asked me earlier if she could talk with me after it was over. So in the gym we walked around talking and looking at the different displays and eating our snacks. At one point she asked for my e-mail address (I have known her and her family for two years now). I wrote it down on my napkin and gave it to her. She is such a sweet girl.

I will enjoy the break this summer but will miss seeing their sweet, beautiful, smiling faces.

Cincinnati Convention

On Friday the 9th, my family and I went to the Cincinnati Convention. This was our first time to attend the convention. My mom had three friends that were there, So we went out to lunch with them on Saturday. Two of the mom's brought some of their children with them. Daniel and Andrew hung out with the boys while Rachel was with the girls.

On Saturday I ran into Grace Atherton and her family. Neither one of us had any idea that the other was going to be at the convention. So I was able to walk the convention hall with Grace and her sisters and go to one of the workshops together.

We had a lot of fun and I hope we can go again next year.
